Board Members

Ewa Bartos was born in Poland and raised in the Soviet Union. She received a science degree from Warsaw University and came to the United States in 1968 where she received a degree in Psychology from Hunter College. Ewa has volunteered at the Whitney Museum and Asia Society, and works as a consultant to her husband Armand Bartos, a contemporary and modern art dealer.

Jayne Drost is the Director of Elizabeth Dee Gallery and Co-Director of Independent, the collective exhibition based on a reexamination of the art fair model. She also served as Deputy Director for X Initiative, the one year not-for-profit housed in the former Dia Center in Chelsea from 2009-2010. She has previously held positions at PS1 Contemporary Art Center, The Drawing Center, and as studio manager for Peter Halley. In addition to her current activities, Jayne organizes independent exhibitions and artist projects in New York.

Nicholas Griffin is a native of Brooklyn, NY and holds a BA and an MBA. After stints in the media business and the technology industry, Mr. Griffin now works in commercial real estate in New York City with a focus on progressive urban planning and mixed-use developement.  In addition to his work with the Flux Factory, Nick is involved with several other organizations in support of the arts & culture and urban & community development; including Friends of the Highline, Transportation Alternatives, the Center for Urban Pedagogy, and Julia Mandle Performance.

Scott Hirst is a consulting attorney, and a research fellow at the Harvard Law School Program on Corporate Governance.  His areas of interest include start-up and business development consulting, and non-profit law.  Before joining Harvard Law School he was as an attorney in the mergers and acquisitions group of Shearman & Sterling LLP.  He is a member of the New York Bar, and holds a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland.

Doreen Jakob holds a PhD from Humboldt University Berlin in Sociology.  Previously, she studied Geography, Urban Planning, Politics and Economics at Humboldt University Berlin, the CUNY Graduate Center and New York University. Doreen has been a Research Associate for the Center for an Urban Future in New York City, the Urban Research Program in Brisbane and the Center for Metropolitan Studies in Berlin where she worked on creative industries and their role within urban and economic development. She is currently a Visiting Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Morgan Meis is a co-founder of Flux Factory. Morgan Meis is the editor-in-chief of the Graduate Faculty Philosophy Journal, an internationally recognized philosophy journal, as well as the founder and publisher of Little Room Press, which specializes in the history of philosophy. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from New School University.

Rado Petkov is Managing Director at the New York investment banking firm Westwood Capital. He leads the firm’s alternative energy practice and works with solar and other alternative energy companies to help structure and arrange growth and project financing. Prior to joining Westwood, Rado worked at Shelbourne Capital Partners, a financial advisory boutique, and Eurasia Group, an emerging markets political risk consultancy. His professional experience includes business development work in the IT sector and economic policy research and advisory work at the EastWest Institute, an international policy think-tank.

Stephen S. Santo, Esq. is a solo practicioner in private practice of law. General practice with specialization in immigration and asylum law 16 years, including representation of artists visas (O-1 and immigrant) in a variety of artistic fields. He is a member of American Immigration Lawyers Association, New York and U.S. District Court (NY) Bars.
