programs - Artist Residencies

Flux wants to offer a stable residency program for artists, scholars,
and writers from the United States and the rest of the World.
We're still working on getting funding and a proper space but we've
already accommodated several artists.

Josh Zelenka
Once a member of the World Head Quarters, a Seattle based artist commune, Josh is going on an Art Tour of America and Flux Factory was his New York stop of choice: I'm looking for groups of artists around the country to host me as a 'secret operative'. I get space, work on projects, and do video interviews. you get a full-time production worker or collaborator or (maybe) art-slave. WHY? because I assume that every city in the country has a group of people that I'd enjoy meeting. This is the best excuse I can come up with to meet the folks whom I think I'd enjoy. And it seems like it would basically benefit everyone involved. All my musician friends tour. This is an art-tour.   www.somehowtheworld.net

Space Invader
French anonymous artist Space Invader makes mosaics from the eponymous video game, which he puts up in public spaces of his victim city. He has successfully invaded 25 cities world wide, and thus was invited to participate in our 2003 summer show, While You Were Playing Rubik's Cube. We offered him a residency and published his Invasion Map of New York City thanks to a generous grant from the Grand Marnier Foundation. He has been named best global installation artist by the Village Voice.
