These prints are a part of "Heroines with Baggage" – an ongoing project devoted to the study of the proliferation of subtle negative gender-based stereotypes throughout the video games that Washko grew up playing, and how the presence of these stereotypes has impacted her growth, especially in her expectations of love, tragedy, and the roles she takes on in her adult relationships. The prints were made during a residency at Contemporary Artists Center at Woodside in Troy, NY in collaboration with We Are Architects. Iterations of this work have been shown at We Are Architects’ LEVEL Festival, Spattered Columns (NYC), Video Vaudeville (Brooklyn), and will be shown at Vector Game + Art Festival in Toronto. Orit Gat wrote an essay on "Heroines with Baggage" for Rhizome, “In need of a Heroine: Angela Washko’s “Heroines with Baggage (How Final Fantasy Shaped My Unrealistic Demands for Love and Tragedy).”
