Katarina Jerinic makes maps, schematics, photographs, and invented navigational guides to urban space based on formal models of natural phenomena. This photograph is from a series of landscapes discovered while walking, and portrays Jerinic's interest in projecting systems onto natural and manmade vignettes to make them explorable and meaningful. Visually, Jerinic's work refers to the topography of urban and natural places, while suggesting a way of wandering through both simultaneously. Rather than investigating a dichotomy between built and un-built environments, she uses the structure of one to examine the other, as proposals for navigating space.
