The artist created "Initial Private Offering" by gilding an external hard drive that she used to backup her computer files and private information, including notes and construction plans for her artwork. She covered it with genuine 24kt gold leaf, transforming her personal and intellectual property into a physical commodity with both literal and signified value. Made specifically for the 2012 Flux Factory Not-So-Silent Auction, this piece capitalizes upon the concept of perceived worth and the transactional experience of donating artwork for an auction. As with most purchased art objects, the retail value of Initial Private Offering is partly dependent on the projected success of the artist’s career.

PLEASE NOTE: BID INCREMENT IS $20 FOR ALL ARTWORKS LISTED ON THIS WEBSITE. YOU MUST BID $20 MORE THAN THE CURRENT BID PRICE IN ORDER TO BECOME THE HIGHEST BIDDER.
