Your custom window box is part of Homegrown Security, an ongoing work that makes urban farming vertical with window boxes. Each window box (including yours!) is custom designed to fit the window of your choice, with its own unique look. The artist will give you a private workshop about window box gardening where you will mix soil, choose the best plants for your window box, and then plant the vegetation of your choice. You may also be invited to participate in a recipe share and cook that will take place during the summer of 2013!

Artist Biography:
 Moira Williams invites public interactions and gestures of exchange. She is currently a fellow in the Laundromat Project’s Create Change Program and a co-founder of the walking cooperative Walk Exchange. Recent work has been displayed at No Longer Empty’s This Side Of Paradise, Bronx, NY; The Dorsky Curatorial Gallery, NY; D.U.M.B.O. Art Festival, NY; Ruimte in Beweging, Schiedam, Netherlands; Watermill Center, NY in collaboration with Claudia Bosse’s Theatercombinat; The Kitchen, NY; and Westminster Library, Westminster, U.K. Williams was a Visiting Artist in Residence at the National University of Colombia, Bogotá, Colombia and spoke at the Open Engagement Conference for Art and Social Practice, Oregon and the Brooklyn Food Conference, NY. Currently, she is working on a community project titled Adopt a Box with her neighborhood to create presence in an unsafe subway exit and walkway. Williams can be found walking to the DeKalb post office in Bushwick, NY, where she mails her daily letters to the Milky Way.
