inspirational shot for thinking about the nightlife section of the installation. I love all the little windows glowing, and some of the rooftop details are pretty amazing – cars on rooftops are always badass too. Kerry if i’m not mistaken isn’t that your studio building on the right?

This is it people! the final logo design

here is the patch made from our updated logo (new font!)

still looking at buildings, tops, sides, placement of windows, HVAC units, decks, levels, textures, atmospheres, etc.

from buildings to buildings

jig for spraying models; blue tape double-backed to mount buildings on – ‘they wobble but they don’t fall down’!
taking inspiration from the notion of hanging gardens, vines and courtyards I decided to cut buildings with these tiny nooks and crannies, like small patio decks on top floors. from here, small bits of flock could be glued to give the impression of building-top gardens. take a look!

after base spray coats, then detail with markers, paint pens, pens and flocking material.

only joking!
but seriously remember that buildings like this really do exist all throughout NYC and Budapest, which is what makes this project so exciting! YAY!

Toward a great lifting . . .

He struck fear into the ears of some, but was loved by many. Where is he today?

NO this isn’t our materials storage room! I WISH!
went shopping yesterday with Ranjit. we met up at a wacky and great modelshop near Times Square – a discreet sign, down the hallway, down the stairs to the basement. unfortunately not too much for our project could be acquired here, their stock was more an enthusiast flavour. we got what we could from here and Michael’s craft store and began some more work in the studio. We still need many many buildings before even beginning to layout or ‘plan’ the diorama.
