Douglas Paulson

Douglas Paulson is an artist, arts worker, and teacher who sees each of these as pillars of his practice.  He chooses to work collaboratively, intervening in public, social, and cultural spaces.  He is part of the international three-person group Parfyme, and frequently works together with Ward Shelley, Christopher Robbins, Kerry Downey, the Center for Urban Pedagogy, and has also initiated the loose, project-based collective called Action Club. He also loves taking bike trips, rock climbing, playing chess, fixing things, and talking to people about the things they love.  Sometimes he asks: What kind of art are you for?

Mr. Paulson has participated in projects at institutions, festivals, and shows around the world, including in Copenhagen’s U-Turn Quadrennial, the Athens Biennial, the Queens’ Museum’s International Biennial, the DeCordova Museum, and The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College.

Mr. Paulson has been a Fluxer since 2006; and from 2009-2014, has done almost every job at Flux at least once. He has co-organized and/or co-curated Kitty City, Congress of Collectives, M4MSC, The Flux Death Match series, Public Trust, The Typhoon Continues and So Do You, and a ton of other things big and small.
