| A movie
about romance, adventure, and sadness, as all movies are. But Miracle Mischief is too. Shot as the companion piece to the Miracle on 43rd Street |
There are two central characters in Miracle Mischief and we never even get to learn their names. But we don’t need to learn their names because we have their souls and as soon as they emerge from a hole in the earth under the Brooklyn Queens Expressway it is clear that their journey is simply our journey, writ along a nondescript stretch of semi-suburban Queens. Certainly they are misunderstood, how could they not be? Certainly they will triumph against all odds, how could they not? But it’s clear that no one from 54th Ave. to Northern Boulevard is going to look at things in exactly the same way ever again. When the little guy drops from the tree your heart simply collapses, . . . and then it’s reconstituted by the skinny tall guy and the way they fix each other’s hair
