Jennifer Long began making jewelry out of circuit boards, computers and plumbing supplies one year ago, combining her interest in taking art out of the gallery and a fetish for all things machine made and patterned for efficiency. She feels a basic frustration in the world of wearable objects - and these pieces are the manifestation of love and soldering. Don't bother telling her that electro-jewelry is affected and an overly explicit manifestation of the post-industrial citizen - because she is a Mannerist. Capital M. Phlactery Factory (56 Ave C, 4th/5th) is her work/shop and clubhouse where you can find these objects on a daily basis and discuss the need for jewelry that does not concern itself solely with the neck. The Factory encourages interpretive dancing during business hours.
