Ádám DÓRA

Ádám DÓRA was born in 1993, Vác (HU). Based in Budapest / Barcelona.

He graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in Painting (MA) in 2017. From 2019 to 2020 he was a Mentee in the Budapest Art Mentor Program.

The main body of his work is compromised mainly of oil on canvas pieces, which are developed serially. These pictures are often the interlaced consequences of each other. He plays with the repetition and variation of recurring elements. The themes usually comes from everyday emblematic consumer goods such as sneakers, hamburgers, fitness industry, fashion accessories etc. Showcasing contemporary cultural habits and identities, during his painterly practices these motifs turns into an abstract, tactile painterly language connected to the historical backgrounds of European painting traditions as well.

He has participated in several solo-, duo- and group exhibitions such as ‘Chunky Steps’ solo show at Nagyházi Contemporary, Budapest (HU), Esterhazy Art Award 2021 group show at Ludwig Museum, Budapest (HU), ’Overlaps’ duo show with Rita Koszorús at Hegyvidék Gallery, Budapest (HU), ‘Summer Wine’ group show at Einspach Fine Art & Photography Gallery Budapest (HU), ‘Picture Practices’ at Q Contemporary, Budapest (HU), ‘Gut Feeling / Software Grammar’ group show at CerModern, Ankara (TR), ‘Hot Stuff’ group show at Escat Gallery, Barcelona (ES), ‘Y Profil’ group show at Ludwig Muzeum, Budapest (HU), ‘Fast Lane to Happiness’ solo show at Apollo Gallery, Budapest (HU) and ’I paint what I don’t want to see’ solo show at Piramidón Barcelona (ES).

His works appears in many private and public collections, such as the NOW Esterhazy Contemporary, (AT) and the Contemporary Collection of Hungarian Nation Bank (HU) and Piramidón Centre Barcelona (ES).
