Reina del Mar

Reina del Mar is the alter ego of a curator/sound artist in a state of not-so-fluid flow. Her artistic and curatorial practice crosses cultural hacking, curation, cultural programming, and sound design. She investigates the potential of active listening as a feminist sound practice, focusing on the idea of flooding and floating in a capitalist era, as well as the influence of digital technology and hyperstimulation on the construction and control of identities. She creates universes through transdisciplinary educational programs, collaborative artistic practices, sound art programs, and other artistic experiences (using tuning and kitsch aesthetics). She is a member of the Pedreira collective and guest curator of the Tremor Festival (Azores).
