Ben Seretan
Ben Seretan plays the electric guitar, sings, and makes long music – big, sweeping clouds of tones that fill a room. His work falls somewhere between Alice Coltrane, Arthur Russell, and La Monte Young. He also studied experimental music with Alvin Lucier and Anthony Braxton at Wesleyan University. Interested in tenderness as both subject and a performance endeavor, he often chooses to eschew traditional concert settings, preferring to play in bedrooms, powerplants, galleries, and churches, preferably at sunrise. Ben has released 3 full-length solo recordings, a collaborative LP with Portland, OR band the Early, an hour-long video collage, and a cassette tape with Standard Issue. He has held residencies in Oregon, upstate New York, and Alaksa and, as ever, plays in a variety of other bands.
