Please join us for a two-person presentation of works by Christine Lee and Benso Li, two illustrators from Hong Kong. Each artist presents a unique series of works that adapt traditional Chinese painting into a modern approach to landscape and our urban environment. 

Christine Lee incorporates techniques such as transfer, rubbing, and spray dyeing; as well as unusual materials such as plastic wrap, dishwashing liquids, and paste. 

Benso Li presents his ‘Urban’ series, using ink painting to create vivid, distinctive symbols combined with cityscapes to express the vibrancy of modern cities.

Artist Bios

Chik Keung Benso Li, a member of the Hong Kong Artists Association, is a renowned contemporary ink artist from Hong Kong. Engaging in diverse art exhibitions and competitions, his works have graced prestigious platforms such as the National Art Exhibition and the Hong Kong Art Biennial. Notably, he clinched top honors in the 2022 and 2023 Hong Kong Ink Open Competition, and in 2023, secured the gold medal and the UOB Ink Art of the Year Award at the United Overseas Bank Hong Kong Art in Ink Festival.

Lee Chi Man, Christine is a Hong Kong-based painter who uses Chinese ink painting. She has practiced under the guidance of Liew Come-tong. She completed diploma courses such as Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, and fine arts in Hong Kong. She founded her own studio, teaching painting for over 30 years. Her awards include the 2021 Ink Global Award, as well as two 2022 UOB Awards in the Ink and Landscape/Figurative Open Catgories.
