PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT IS TAKING PLACE AT QUEENS MUSEUM, NOT AT FLUX FACTORY.

Date + time: Saturday, December 14th, 7pm – 9pm
Location: Queens Museum, New York City Building, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens

Flux Factory is pleased to present its last edition of Flux Death Match, a feisty debate series in which opinionated experts lay down their thoughts, and put their foot in their mouths over hot button issues. Spontaneous quips, grisly “smack downs,” and a punishing fog machine are the name of the game. But in true action fashion, the final blow comes from the audience.

Art critic Ben Davis, artist Natalie Jeremijenko, and Queens Museum Executive Director Tom Finkelpearl will duke it out over the complex role of perennial art events in a globalized society and how they influence artistic production, consumption, and the construction of contemporary art history. This fifth Flux Death Match, ‘Ennial Spectacle, is Flux Factory’s contribution to Queens Museum’s very own biennial, Queens International.

The event starts at 7:00 pm with an open bar and reception for the panelists and audience members. The debate begins at 7:30 sharp and will be followed by a Q&A session, after which the audience will determine the winner. High stakes are at risk: the losers must chip in to adopt the Flux Factory building on the Panorama of the City of New York at Queens Museum.

Flux Death Match: ‘Ennial Spectacle is organized and moderated by Douglas Paulson & Christina Vassallo. The Flux Death Match series is generously supported with funding provided by National Endowment for the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
