Flux Thursday: September 8, 2011
September 8th, 8pm+
Join us for Flux Thursday, our monthly potluck dinner and art salon! Dinner starts at 8 in the kitchen, and then around 9:30 we’ll head to the gallery.
In keeping with September’s Back to School workshops, this Flux Thursday will have a special art & tech focus. Digital artist Jer Thorp will discuss his algorithmic design for the NYC 9/11 Memorial. Current Flux Artists-in-Residence Gretta Louw and Angela Washko will discuss their recent and upcoming projects both at home and abroad. Sparked by an inflammatory Twitter exchange, media art curators Lindsay Howard and Marius Watz will face off in a curatorial death match speed debate about media art, Net Art 2.0, kittens and whether “everything is equal on the Internet” (moderated by Julia Kagansky). Cellist Anna Callner and artist Shantell Martin of My New Project will perform a live music and vj set. Finally, we’ll be raffling off two tickets to Maker Faire and our Everyone’s a Winner party on September 17.
Bring drinks or something delicious to share!
