Jiri Pitrmuc

Jiri Pitrmuc’s work consists mainly of paintings, objects and installations. His art practice is driven by a necessary painting routine, which serves as an outline for further ideas or topics. Using a strategy of revision, he examines technological evolution and its impact on our behavior, which he often describes as a spiral we are continually moving along. His work is based on a consistent engagement with materials and motifs that reappear throughout— specific textiles/readymade (upcycled) objects.

He received his MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague where he studied in the Intermedia studio (Pavla Scerankova, Dusan Zahoransky) between 2017 – 2020. During his studies, he attended a study stay at the LUCA School of Arts in Brussels (Project studio) and at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (Sculpture studio). Since the beginning of 2023, he has been teaching and working as a studio assistant in Object-space-action studio at the Faculty of art and Design at JEPU and become a member of the Skutek Association which tries to set fair conditions for cultural workers in Czechia. Since 2024, he has been pursuing his doctoral studies at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.
