Loney Abrams

Loney Abrams is an artist, curator, and critical writer living and working in New York. Her practice locates the internet as an exhibition space and an alternative to institutionalized or market-driven curatorial praxis. She produces and showcases works that comment on their exhibition context and is interested in the intersection between fine art and pop culture, fashion, and lifestyle branding.

She co-organizes hotelart.us, a curatorial project that makes transparent the nature of experiencing art post-internet. Hotelart.us installs exhibitions in hotel rooms, and presents the work as documentation URL via Tumblr and IRL as projected images/videos during one-night openings at various galleries. As Loney Boy, she collaborates with Johnny Tragedy, making dumb beats and designing critical apparel. She received her MFA at Pratt Institute this past May.

In October, 2013, Loney will curate an exhibition in the Flux Gallery with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, through Flux Factory’s initiative to support emerging curators.
