Rob O’Connor
Bad artist, occasional writer, and amateur ornithologist Rob O’Connor was born in Melbourne, 1984. He attended a prestigious art school but still makes paintings. Sometimes he makes them in Tasmania, sometimes in New York, China or France. In 2015 he purchased the domain name “www.robertoconnor.net”.
Rob O’Connor completed his BFA[hons] from the University of Tasmania in 2007 and has since exhibited regularly across Australia. His awards include the MONA [Museum of Old and New Art] scholarship in 2008, as well as residencies at the Cite International des Arts, Paris [2010] and He-Shun International Arts Festival, China [2011]. O’Connor is represented by Bett Gallery Hobart and his work be found in private and public collections, bathrooms, garages and basements. A long standing member of Hobart’s Inflight A.R.I and RatPalace studio collective, Rob has come to Flux Factory to extend existing engagements with artist-run D.I.Y spaces.
