Open Call : We Have Always Lived in the Future

thefuture

Deadline February 15th

Flux Factory invites artists, performers, and researchers to submit work for our upcoming exhibition We Have Always Lived in the Future. This exhibition examines the presence of marginalized groups within the global Silicon Valley and its prevailing visions of future technologies. We are looking for works that address these representations——or lack thereof——in areas including but not limited to: accessibility, virtual reality, surveillance, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

As part of the exhibition, we will host a series called Silicon Flux where we will have a panel discussion for each of the following topics as it relates to the exhibition’s theme: disability and accessibility, virtual reality, wearables, and environment. Proposals for additional topics are welcome.

Creative practitioners who wish to participate only in Silicon Flux are welcome to apply.  Work for the exhibition can be in any medium.

We Have Always Lived in the Future is one of Flux’s major 2017 exhibitions and is curated by Joelle Fleurantin and Joshua Moton.
