Murga Porteña presentation by Aarhuspanti: Murga Porteña is an Argentinian form of popular musical theater resembling a carnival parade with percussionists and dancers. It’s a celebration of freedom and liberation. The choreographies recall the condition of slavery and the sound of chains around the ankles but at the same time it parodies the (often drunk) masters and denounces the oppression they practice. The rhythms and colorful costumes express joy and enthusiasm, leading in the end to the ideal break of physical and/or psychological change.
