How I Learned to Stop Worrying & Love My Bike, 2

Celebrate life on two wheels over two Sundays of grease, riding, and storytelling. All experience levels welcome.

Workshop #1: Sunday, June 8th
On June 8th, Eric Petersen, professional bike mechanic and Queens enthusiast, will lead a skills workshop at Flux (for the third year in a row)! We’ll pick Eric’s brain and learn by doing for two hours: everything from flat fixes, brake maintenance, to the mysterious bottom bracket.  Hands will be dirtied, tools provided, jargon demystified. After the workshop we’ll cruise our newly tuned rides through Western Queens, learning about the history and secret spots in our neighborhood. The evening ends at a local restaurant with bike adventure storytelling of all kinds. Join us for one part of the afternoon, or stay for all three!

Maintenance skills workshop part I: 2 – 4pm Limited to 10 RSVPs
Short ride through LIC & Astoria 4pm – 6ish. Limited to 20 RSVPs
Bicycle Storytelling – 6ish – until we’re done

Workshop #2: Sunday, June 29th

On June 29th, Eric will lead a second workshop covering new material. After the workshop, the Boogie Down Rides team, who run incredible bicycle-art tours focused in the Bronx, are partnering with Transportation Alternatives Queens Committee to lead a bicycling and art adventure! Starting at Flux in LIC, the ride will take us across the East River to the Bronx. We’ll ride for about an hour, and wind up with food and drinks to celebrate our work and our love of bikes.

Maintenance skills workshop part II: 2 – 4pm  Limited to 10 RSVPs
Boogie Down Rides leads the way with TAQC: 4pm – until we’re done. Limited to 30 RSVPs
